Welcome to our website! Brewer-Porch Children’s Center’s Intensive Residential Program and Short Term Treatment and Evaluation Education Program’s staff strives for excellence in education. The Center serves children ages six through eighteen who are experiencing emotional and/or behavioral difficulties. We have a talented staff of educators and support staff that care about your child’s learning and development. We are committed to academic excellence and student progress. It is our goal to provide a positive learning environment serving the educational, emotional, and social needs of our students.
We offer a standards-based curriculum to support academic achievement and strive to build character by encouraging students to take responsibility for their choices and actions. Licensed by the State of Alabama Department of Education, Brewer-Porch Children’s Center provides specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of each child. . The Center also utilizes modern technology to its maximum capacity. At Brewer-Porch Children’s Center, the teachers and staff are committed to leaving no child behind.
The classroom structure includes academic and intensive treatment which is conducive for a therapeutic learning environment. The goal of treatment is to help each child learn skills that will permit a successful return to a public school environment following placement. We strive to nurture a school culture in which all members feel safe, included, and valued.
Brewer -Porch Children’s Center has more than thirty years of experience working with children in need of intense residential and short term treatment. It is a teaching/learning site for undergraduate students from the University of Alabama and other colleges and universities. The Center is dedicated to the three missions of The University: Service, Teaching, and Research.
