Please note that client safety, client needs, staffing ratios, or other business needs may take precedence over this policy as determined by management.

Within each preference category, a rotating list of employees based on seniority will be used to fill these slots. After an employee has received preference, the employee will move to the bottom of the list. Seniority is defined as greatest length of current service as a mental health worker, or mental health worker senior or consumer education specialist as residential employee. All others will be based on length of service at Brewer-Porch Children’s Center.

8-Hour Shifts

Fewer Than Three Staff Members

Shifts are to be staffed as follows:

  1. A Shift Leader (SL) for each shift, starting with the SL on the assigned shift and location
    • If no shift leader for the assigned shift is available, then a regular residential employee in order of seniority.
  2. One slot with a Contingent-On-Call (COC) with at least six months of residential experience
  3. Other remaining slots to be filled by Contingent-on-Call
  4. Other remaining slots to be filled by regular employees based on seniority

Three or More Staff Members

Shifts are to be staffed as follows:

  1. A Shift Leader (SL) for each shift, starting with the SL on the assigned shift and location
    •  If no shift leader for the assigned shift is available, then a regular residential employee in order of seniority.
  2. One slot with a regular employee (part-time or full-time) who regularly works in the particular unit, or if not available, then one who works in the same program, in order of seniority.
  3. One slot with a Contingent-On-Call (COC) with at least six months of residential experience
  4. Other remaining slots to be filled by Contingent-on-Call
  5. Other remaining slots to be filled by regular employees based on seniority

12-Hour Shifts

Fewer Than Three Staff Members

  5. Other remaining slots to be filled by regular employees, based on seniority
